Andrew Mitch Explores What The Body Remembers In New Country-Pop Single “Muscle Memory” Out May 22

NASHVILLE, TN — On May 22, Andrew Mitch will release his new single “muscle memory,” a country-pop ballad about the routines and reflexes that remain after someone is gone. Built around the idea that the body remembers what the mind is trying to let go of, the song captures the quiet moments where grief unexpectedly resurfaces.

Written by Andrew Mitch and Jonathan Johnston, “muscle memory” continues Andrew’s evolving country-pop sound through intimate storytelling and atmospheric production. Produced by Andrew himself, the song keeps its focus on the small details at the center of the lyric: waiting for the sound of a door opening, leaving on a kitchen light, or still making space for someone in bed without even thinking about it.

“I had a completely different follow-up single planned for May, but I received a lot of DMs from people who said my last single ‘baggage’ reminded them of significant others and family members who passed away,” Andrew says. “While ‘baggage’ wasn’t originally written in the context of loss, I thought it was such a deeply personal meaning for listeners to assign to the song. Those messages ended up inspiring ‘muscle memory.’”

“muscle memory” was mixed by Bryan Cook and mastered by Brian Calhoun. A lyric video will premiere on release day alongside the single.

With “muscle memory,” Andrew Mitch continues to release music rooted in emotional honesty and personal storytelling, creating songs that allow listeners to find their own experiences inside them.

“muscle memory” will be available on all streaming platforms May 22, 2026. Pre-save here: https://onerpm.link/muscle_memory

About Andrew Mitch

Often using the phrase “sad songs are my love language,” Andrew Mitch is a Nashville-based country artist whose work is rooted in raw emotion, personal truth, and human connection. Raised in Steubenville, Ohio, Andrew taught himself to sing and play music at home, in church, and through his youth group. Though accepted into multiple graduate programs for biochemistry, he made the unconventional decision in 2021 to leave academia behind and pursue music full-time in Nashville.

Andrew’s breakout single, “all in my head,” was released in September 2023 and struck a powerful chord with the lyric, “I know that it’s all in my head / ’cause they’ll just wish you were a girl instead.” The song debuted on the US iTunes Country Top 100, accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams, and sparked viral fan support that helped crowdfund his debut project, “feeling outside the lines” in 2024. In 2025, Andrew went on to release songs like “back home boy”, “unapologetic,” “the reimagined sessions” EP — stripped-down, intimate versions of fan favorites — and a deluxe record, “still feeling outside the lines.”

As a completely independent artist, Andrew has been featured by CMA, Music Row Magazine, Holler Country, and more, with praise from artists and industry voices such as Carly Pearce, Ty Herndon, and Ty Bentli. His music has been included on major playlists including CMA, CMT, and Apple Music Country, reaching millions of viewers and listeners and building a dedicated fanbase of over 30,000 followers.

In 2026, Andrew stepped into a new chapter, shifting his sound toward cinematic country-folk by leaning into atmospheric production and reflective storytelling. His most recent single “baggage” placed on Apple Music’s New In Country playlist and is his highest streaming song to date. After releasing a piano-only version of the song, called “baggage (even sadder version)”, Andrew is slated to release his next single “muscle memory” in May 2026. Whether through song, storytelling, or conversation, Andrew Mitch continues to carve out a space that is fearless, grounded, and entirely his own.
