Equal Access Named as Finalist for the 2025 Shorty Impact Awards and 2025 Origins Impact Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (October 29, 2025) – Equal Access, the charitable initiative founded by mtheory to accelerate equity and inclusion in the country music industry, is being recognized nationwide for its groundbreaking work in artist and executive development. The organization is currently a finalist for the Shorty Awards for Impact in Arts and Culture, and a nominee for “Community Advocate of the Year” at the Origins Impact Awards. Both nominations follow Equal Access’ recent win as the 2025 Agent of Change at the Music Business Association’s Bizzy Awards.

“We’ve been thrilled to partner with Equal Access since they launched in 2022, and we were so excited when our members voted them as the Agent of Change for our 2025 Bizzy Awards. They’re a great organization and we hope they’re able to continue their important work in the future,” said Portia Sabin, President of the Music Business Association.

Since its launch in 2022, Equal Access has provided direct funding and mentorship to artists and managers building sustainable careers in country music. Each cohort member receives up to $20,000 in business development grants, which have helped participants cover expenses ranging from recording and touring to marketing, legal, and team-building costs. Equal Access proudly collaborates with industry leaders across CMT, CMA, ACM, Opry Entertainment, RIAA, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Sirius + Pandora, BMI, CRS, Music Business Association, The MLC, Warner Music Nashville, River House Artists, Americana Association, and more.
