Matt Stell Releases New Song With Ne-Yo, “Better Angels”

“Better Angels” Visualizer also out now

The song marks Matt Stell’s first release with his new label home, Black River Entertainment

(Nashville, TN — June 3, 2026) — Multiplatinum country artist Matt Stell’s new song “Better Angels” with famed R&B singer NE-YO is out now, marking Stell’s first release with his new label home, Black River Entertainment. A mid-tempo groove that laments the feeling of having been deserted by one’s own guardian angels after a few bad decisions, the song builds with choir-like background vocals and a wailing final chorus that illustrates the anguish of remorse.

“When we started writing “Better Angels” I felt like we were on to something really special. We set out to make something cool and just kind of let the song go where it wanted to go. Also loved getting to write it with a superstar like NE-YO and having him feature on it really takes the song to another level,” says Matt.

“Better Angels is one of those songs that hits you because it’s real,” said NE-YO. “It taps into that feeling of looking back and realizing you let something good get away, and I think everybody’s been there at some point. I’m proud of what we created together and happy to see it resonating with people.”

The track is receiving substantial support out of the gate with programming across all major DSPs including Spotify New Boots, Apple Music Country Risers, Amazon Music Brand New Music and Pandora Blue Sky: Country Pop.

Shot in Atlanta earlier this year, the Official Visualizer for “Better Angels” is also out now.
