Rising Singer-Songwriter Madden Metcalf Delivers
Sun-Drenched Anthem “Sound Of The Summer”
Nashville, Tenn. – Today, 20-year-old singer-songwriter Madden Metcalf sets the mood for sun-drenched days and long hot nights with his adrenaline-charged new song “Sound Of The Summer.” Out now via Wexler Records/MCA, the hook-heavy track doubles as a heart-pounding portrait of summer romance and an epic love song to summer itself. Go here to listen to “Sound Of The Summer” now.
“I wrote this song about a place called St. George Island, Florida. It’s the feeling of being young and in love in the Sunshine State, my home, and all my favorite memories of summer on the Forgotten Coast,” shares Metcalf. “I can’t wait for y’all to hear this one.”
Produced by Paul Sikes (Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson) and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter/producer Freddy Wexler (Billy Joel, Post Malone), “Sound Of The Summer” is the first new music from Metcalf since his acclaimed debut EP Saltwater Southern — a March release that landed on All Country News’ “Best of the Week,” who declared that “the Florida native isn’t chasing country music’s current wave, he’s carving his own shoreline.” Featured track “Kinda Paradise” made an immediate mark, landing top placements on Spotify’s New Boots and Coming Up Country playlists and taking home “Best New Country Song of the Week” from Holler. To create his latest windows-down anthem, Metcalf co-wrote alongside Wexler, Sikes, and J.T. Harding (Kenny Chesney, Cole Swindell), fully capturing the heart-on-fire intensity of young love in the summertime.
In a masterful display of his storytelling prowess, Metcalf launches into “Sound Of The Summer” with a level of detail straight out of an iconic coming-of-age movie (“Blue Gatorade rolling ‘cross the floorboard / You drummin’ in my shotgun seat / Empty beer cans rattling in the truck bed / With you singing ‘Me and Bobby McGee’”). Lit up in scorching guitar riffs, lush B3 organ melodies, and shimmering pedal-steel tones, the Country-Pop stunner showcases the warmth and power of Metcalf’s voice as he delivers its exhilarating chorus: “Tiptoe sneaking / Wood dock creaking / Two hearts beating like thunder / Girl, you’re the sound of the summer.” With its potent push-and-pull between real-time nostalgia and pure unbridled sensation, the result is the kind of timeless song we carry with us for the rest of our lives.
Like all his output to date, “Sound Of The Summer” unfolds with both soulful ease and gritty authenticity — a direct reflection of his upbringing in the tiny Gulf Coast fishing town of Panacea. On Saltwater Southern, Metcalf showed the full scope of his roots across an electrifying set of songs, serving up standouts like “I Don’t Wanna Cry Anymore” (a bold-hearted breakup anthem spotlighted on Country Swag’s roundup of “Country Songs You Need To Know This Week”) and “Young Loretta” (a bittersweet and bluesy track featuring nine-time GRAMMY-winning super-producer Dave Cobb on guitar). With more new music on the way, Metcalf continues to chart his own course as a singular new voice in modern Country music.
About Madden Metcalf:
Twenty-year-old Country artist Madden Metcalf hails from Panacea, Florida — a fishing town of fewer than a thousand people, where his family has lived for generations. Raised between mornings on the crab boat and nights working at a local restaurant, he built his music on small-town grit, Gulf Coast roots, and the soundtrack of his dad’s pole barn, where Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffett, and Kenny Chesney were always playing. Out now, his debut EP Saltwater Southern blends modern Country hooks with timeless storytelling, offering songs that are as much Florida as they are Nashville. Shaped by family, faith, and the influence of his late uncle Darren, Madden sees music as a way to connect — turning his personal stories into something listeners everywhere can feel. With saltwater in his veins and Southern pride in his soul, Madden Metcalf is quickly emerging as one of Country’s most exciting new voices.
