Andrew Mitch Explores the Weight We Carry In New Cinematic Country-Folk Ballad “Baggage”
Nashville, TN — On February 27, Andrew Mitch will release his new single “baggage,” a song about what lingers after a relationship ends: the emotional weight and the quiet moments. The song moves between intimate, stripped-back sections and heavier percussion and strings, reflecting the highs and lows that follow the end of a relationship.
“I’ve always loved the ballad-like feel of country-folk music, as well as the excitement and drama of orchestral and cinematic music,” Andrew says. “So I combined them on this track.”
Co-written by Andrew alongside Jonathan Johnston, Eitan Snyder, and Drew Rizzuto, “baggage” was produced by Andrew himself. The song’s dynamic arrangement mirrors its emotional core, shifting between sparse guitar passages and fuller orchestral sections that capture both vulnerability and emotional overload.
“I think everyone can relate to the weight you carry after any sort of relationship ends,” Mitch adds. “I wrote this song hoping to embody what that really feels like in your chest. Heavy. There are ups, there are downs, and it’s a lot to hold. Hopefully it helps someone zone out and have a good cry. I know I did.”
Instrumentally, “baggage” features banjo and dobro performed by James Paul Mitchell and was mixed by Bryan Cook, whose credits include work with Lainey Wilson, One Republic, Steven Wilson Jr., and U2.
With “baggage,” Mitch continues to release music shaped by emotional honesty and a deeply personal approach to songwriting and production.
“baggage” is available on all streaming platforms February 27, 2026. Pre-save here: https://onerpm.link/baggage
About Andrew Mitch
Often using the phrase “sad songs are my love language,” Andrew Mitch is a Nashville-based country artist whose work is rooted in raw emotion, personal truth, and human connection. Raised in Steubenville, Ohio, Andrew taught himself to sing and play music at home, in church, and through his youth group. Though accepted into multiple graduate programs for biochemistry, he made the unconventional decision in 2021 to leave academia behind and pursue music full-time in Nashville.
Andrew’s breakout single, “all in my head,” was released in September 2023 and struck a powerful chord with the lyric, “I know that it’s all in my head / ’cause they’ll just wish you were a girl instead.” The song debuted on the US iTunes Country Top 100, accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams, and sparked viral fan support that helped crowdfund his debut project, “feeling outside the lines” in 2024. In 2025, Andrew went on to release songs like “back home boy”, “unapologetic,” “the reimagined sessions” EP — stripped-down, intimate versions of fan favorites — and a deluxe record, “still feeling outside the lines.”
As a completely independent artist, Andrew has been featured by CMA, Music Row Magazine, Holler Country, and more, with praise from artists and industry voices such as Carly Pearce, Ty Herndon, and Ty Bentli. His music has been included on major playlists including CMA, CMT, and Apple Music Country, reaching millions of viewers and listeners and building a dedicated fanbase of over 30,000 followers.
Entering 2026, Andrew is stepping into a new chapter, shifting his sound toward cinematic country-folk — leaning into atmospheric production, reflective storytelling, and expansive emotional landscapes. Whether through song, storytelling, or conversation, Andrew Mitch continues to carve out a space that is fearless, grounded, and entirely his own.
