Nashville, Tenn. (October 3, 2025) – Rock lovers everywhere can look forward to a resurgence of the sound through new music from musician and songwriter, Cook Allender. “I’m Your OCD,” a melodic rock anthem with a psychological-thriller plot twist, is available everywhere today, Friday, October 3rd. This is the first single from Allender’s forthcoming album on VibraHive Records/Symphonic Distribution.

Cook Allender has never had to think about answering the quintessential question: “What do you want to do when you grow up?” At the age of seven, he picked up a baritone ukulele from his parent’s garage and immediately began writing riffs, bypassing the traditional route of learning other people’s music first. The rules you end up breaking were the only rules he wrote by. He honed his skills playing guitar for bands in the Arklatex and Dallas, Texas areas, collaborating with singers, crafting radio-friendly rock anthems that stand the test of time. He took a break to focus on a career in film with the lifelong dream of one day fronting his own project. That day has come!

“I’m a New Orleans native but after attending the University of Tennessee (Go Vols!) Nashville stood out to me as a place I needed to reconnect with,” shares Allender. “After years in Louisiana and making a career in the film industry, I decided to take the music I’d written and get it tracked, mastered and see where it went. Could I have stayed and done it in New Orleans? Sure, but there were so many more guitars than trumpets in Nashville, so I made the move and built out a studio I could record in at my own pace, and here we are!”

Allender took his love of story from his years in the film business and crafted vivid lyrical storylines set to a sonic landscape he says feels like, “if Stone Temple Pilots and Led Zeppelin had a Foo Fightin’ baby.” With “I’m Your OCD,” listeners are taken on what feels like a literary journey, steeped in emotive guitar riffs, rich, layered vocals and cinematic, musical textures.

“I have a deep love of 90’s alternative rock that, when married with my experience in filmmaking, brought out what feels more like mini-movie scripts set to music. Once the music videos are done, the album will be multi-sensory,” he adds. “I’m a storyteller at heart and that’s what this first song, and the forthcoming album, will feel like, but all set in a genre I absolutely love, and I think others will connect with as well.”

As much as Allender is committed to his music, there’s something else that drives him.

Max.

“Max is my five-year-old Blue Heeler. I’ve always been an animal lover and a big part of who I am is all about the care and rescue of animals. They don’t get a choice — they trust and depend on us for everything. Max changed my life for the better and he’s an integral part of my journey, so I’m donating a majority of the earnings from my music to shelters, and charities who help fund much needed spaying/neutering and expensive surgeries for pets. I have known people who love their pets but can’t afford a major surgery so, as heartbreaking as it is, they choose to ‘end their pet’s suffering’ — all because of expense. I want this music to help people have options that will save their pets. Max, and other pups I’ve had in the past, have given me unconditional love and joy — I want to give that back.”

Allender is currently working on confirming a range of national partner charities; links to those will be available in coming weeks.
