Orla: Okay, hi everyone! I’m here with Sippin’ on Country at the Long Road festival and I’m interviewing the First Time Flyers.
First Time Flyers: Hello! We are First Time Flyers!
Orla: Woo! So, how are you guys feeling about being at the Long Road?
First Time Flyers: Best week, we love it. Yeah, I’d agree.
Orla: This is such a cool festival Isn’t it? I mean, it’s just so relaxed.
First Time Flyers: Yes!
Orla: It’s so different from C2C:CountrytoCountry which is just mental, there is so much running around.
First Time Flyers: The vibes are just unmatched here. And the sun makes a bit of a difference!
Orla: Definitely! So, how do you guys feel about performing here? Obviously, you’re a British country music band playing a country festival so how do you feel about being playing here today?
First Time Flyers: We don’t know anything else. (Poppy): I want to say that the UK country fans are the best in the world, but it’s not just the UK, like just music fans are so amazing. The way they give their time to wherever they are and whoever they are watching is just really awesome.
Orla: Yeah, definitely.
First Time Flyers: You know, we’re saying that as fans ourselves, we love being here mainly because we kind of get free tickets to watch other people! So that’s fun! (Tim): But we haven’t seen any of them!
Orla: No, no and I mean that’s what it’s like! Even having media, as well. You’re running around to do interviews and see as many artists as possible and you miss out on a lot as well. It’s nice to get to chat with you guys. But it is always hectic!
First Time Flyers: Yes it is!
Orla: So, I wanted to chat to you about your new single, Primadonna, which came out yesterday. Can I just say, I love it? It’s a really good tune. It is so upbeat and catchy. I was listening to it earlier and I was like, this is just so fun!
Poppy: Does it make you feel confident?
Orla: Yes!
Poppy: I hope! And a bit of a strut, a little bit of energy!
Orla: And when I listen to your music, it is just upbeat and fun. You can have fun with it, and have a dance. And that’s what you want to get out of it, right?
FTF: Absolutely.
Orla: Do you feel like it is being well received?
FTF: (Vicky): To be honest, we’ve had no signals! (Everyone laughs). It went down well at the shows! (Tim): It’s shows that made us release that song anyway. I kind of feel like this is a fan’s choice of single, really. Because it was sort of, we never knew if we were going to release it or not. And I think that the reaction we’ve had on tour with this song over the years has been so positive that we just had to put it out.
Orla: Definitely. And I believe your new album is out on September 12th, right? The debut album!
FTF: That’s right!(Vicky): She’s done her research! (Everyone laughs)
Orla: How are you feeling about it?
FTF: We are absolutely so exited. (Tim): It’s been a long time coming.
Orla: And you’ve got a tour set up, right?
FTF: Yes, September 17th! (Vicky): We kick off in Manchester, UK and then we tour for like what is it, two three weeks? (Tim): Yeah, something like that. (Vicky): We have dates around the UK, which is our biggest one yet. And we are so exited because we’re playing all of the album, half of which people have never ever heard before. (Poppy): Not even us!
Orla: Oh my goodness!
FTF: Yeah and we’ve never sung it! (Laughter)
Orla: I bet it’s going to be really fun to get to actually sing it live with your fans.
FTF( Tim): And gage their reactions to see what we’ve done well, you know?
Orla: Exactly.
FTF (Poppy): With Prima, we never expected it to have the reaction it did, and so I’m really exited to see which new songs on the album they kind of go, oh, we like this one! And we trust them so much, we trust their opinions
Orla: Definitely, that’s really nice and so important. So I would like to ask you all, do you have a goal for the end of the year?
FTF: (Vicky): I think, I mean, I can’t speak for everyone but I would love to see people filling our tour venues and having a good time because our last one that was at the start of the year was just such a crazy, you know, time because it was so full and people were singing so loudly. So you know if we could just have that again I’ll be very happy. (Poppy): Yeah. That yeah.
Orla: That’s awesome, you guys are doing really well! I’m really looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for you all. After the tour, I mean, it’s so exiting isn’t it?
FTF: (Tim): Thank you so much, we are exited.
Orla: Of course, and I hope you guys have a great weekend at the Long Road! Who are you guys looking forward to seeing most?
FTF: Well, we watched Drake last night.
Orla: What did you think?
FTF: (Tim): He was brilliant! (Poppy): Come on it’s Drake, he was so good! (Tim): The Crowe Boys are also brilliant, we met them briefly yesterday and they were really nice. Karma, we love, luckily we are playing just after her tonight so we are going to watch her.
